Welcome to the Wilderspin National School

 

The school is a family-friendly museum that welcomes visitors of all ages to experience a slice school life in a bygone age.

Located in Barton-upon-Humber, the school museum offers, through role-play, hands-on exhibits and talks, an authentic and memorable experience of teaching in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The Museum is open on the Early May Bank Holiday 4 May and on the Spring Bank Holiday 25 May, 10am – 4pm

Teddies Tour

Sat 23 May – Sunday 31 May

Celebrate National Family Week and borrow one of our lonely teddy bears who will tour the school with you.  Bring your camera or smartphone to take some pictures too.  The teddies will also be out in the Summer Holidays and the October Half Term. Cost: £2 (£1.50 when you bring your own teddy).

A Lincolnshire Education – memories of Barton Grammar School

Thursday 28 May, 7.30pm
Ronald J Hill was part of the “lucky generation” growing up in post-War Lincolnshire, winning a scholarship to the Barton Grammar School.  Enjoy Ron’s recollections and reminiscences of England in the 1950s – an age of austerity and hope – as he dips into his autobiography “Grammar School Boy” and shares memories of teachers and classmates, classrooms and curriculum – and how they helped shape his life.

Tickets: £6 can be booked by telephone (01652) 635172 or by calling in at the School Museum Thursday - Sunday.
Proceeds from the event will help with further restoration of the School.  (Wilderspin Centre – Citadel)

Meet Ronald J Hill, author of Grammar School Boy, and share recollections of Barton upon Humber Grammar School with him and other former pupils.

Muster a team of up to four people to test your general knowledge including all those facts you learned at school. £10 per team.
