Victorian Day 2011
A taste of 19th Century life at the school museum
Over 1000 people visited the school on the 31st July as Wilderspin School hosted Barton-upon-Humber's annual Victorian Day.
It was a lovely sunny day and it was great to see so many people turning out to support the event.
This year was all about the fun of the fair with a host of traditional
fairground rides and activities.
The day gave visitors the chance to learn about the history of the school
and the Victorian era.

Children (and a few adults) got the chance to dress up in Victorian
costume and take part in a lesson as it would have been taught in the
Victorian era.
Another popular attraction was a horse drawn carriage which gave free
rides throughout the day.
There was a also a well dressed lady preaching temperance, something
that used to be very popular in Barton many years ago (Queens Street
still has an old temperance hall). Unfortunately she didn't get many
converts this year but she said she will be back

Our
grateful thanks go to Barton Civic Society who worked extremely hard organising the event.
They also took some
photos which you can see
here
Hope you all enjoyed yourselves and see you next year.
