School museums
Scotland Street School Museum
Situated in Glasgow, The Scotland Street Museum shows the history of
Scottish education housed in a genuine school environment. Charles
Rennie Mackintosh designed this spectacularly grand showpiece between 1903 and 1906.
New Lanack World Heritage Site
A beautifully restored 18th century cotton mill village in Southern
Scotland, close to the Falls of Clyde and around an hour from Edinburgh
and Glasgow. Some interesting educational exhibits including a school
built by Robert Owen, a passionate believer in childhood education.
The Ragged School Museum
The Ragged School Museum is housed in three warehouses on Copperfield
Road, located beside Regent's Canal in London. The site was formerly owned by Dr. Barnardo and was previously the
largest ragged school in London. The Museum is a unique collection of
items which chronicle the history of the Ragged School institution and
give an insight into the history of London's East end.
British Schools Museum, Hitchin
The British Schools Museum in Queen Street, Hitchin, Hertfordshire, is
housed in a unique set of historic buildings that tell the story of
elementary education in Britain from 1810 until 1945. Here you will find the
Monitorial School-room built in 1837 for one master to teach 300 boys as
advocated by Joseph Lancaster (1778-1838). This is the only known complete
Lancasterian School-room in the world.

South Humber Collection
A £30 million pound regeneration scheme spearheaded by the South Humber
Bank Partnership. The partnership has revitalised many buildings and large
areas of land on the south bank of the River Humber and North Lincolnshire.
Their aim is to consolidate the area's growing status as a centre of
excellence for environmental and cultural tourism and as a vibrant place to
live and work .
SS Crome Associates
Designed and commissioned the interpretation panels and signage at the
Wilderspin school museum. Worked closely with us during the restoration
and helped make our permanent displays both an interesting and educational experience.
Barton Civic Society
Formed in 1969 the aims of the society are to preserve and enhance the historic
fabric of the town of Barton upon Humber and to promote interest in the
town. They have erected plaques on various important buildings
throughout the town, and given annual awards to projects which have
enhanced the town or enhanced buildings which were in danger of becoming
neglected.
