How to Research Your Family History

Learn how to investigate your family history including school records. This ten week course includes two visits to a Local Studies Library and an Archive Office to delve into the sort of sources you could use to trace your family tree and add context. The tutor will provide weekly help with your investigations and access to supporting literature.

French Kids Clubs

French language classes for children, through arts and crafts, music, stories and films – running throughout term time.

For 8 – 12 year olds on Saturdays between 2pm and 3pm.

£35 for seven weeks

70 Shades Damper – rescheduled

Following the huge touring success of ’69 Shades of Beige’ MJS Production return with another fast-moving, character swapping, comedy feast.

Tom struggles to balance the demands of his wife who wants a baby, his agent who wants more earnings, and his own dreams of being a comedian.  What could possibly go wrong?

Tickets: £10, concessions £7

(first floor auditorium – at this stage in our development of the venue, we can only manage stair lift access for visitors with restricted mobility)

This performance has been rescheduled and was originally programmed for 11 October.

The Barton Bunker

Over a thousand visitors experienced our first public opening of the Second World War air raid shelter on Fleetgate last year.

In partnership with The Options Group at Applegate House the shelter will be open during Heritage Open Days 2019:

Saturday 14 September, open to view 12pm -3pm – no need to book

Sunday 15 September, guided tours on the hour and half hour, 1pm – 3pm – booking required

Wednesday 18 September, open to view, 1.30pm – 4.30pm – no need to book

Sunday 21 September, guided tours on the hour and half hour, 1pm – 3pm – booking required

Saturday 22, open to view, 12pm -3pm – no need to book

Admission is free but donations will be used for restoration of the shelter and its interpretation.
